NairaClan policy
Terms and Conditions
These terms explain how NairaClan works, what members are responsible for, and how the platform protects public community trust.
This policy is written in plain language for users. It is not a substitute for review by a qualified legal professional before public launch.
Agreement to these terms
By creating an account, browsing, posting, replying, saving content, sending connect requests, submitting requests, using Clan discovery, creating ads, or using any NairaClan feature, you agree to these terms and the Community Guidelines.
If you do not agree, do not use NairaClan. We may update these terms as the platform grows, and continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
What NairaClan provides
NairaClan is a community platform for Nigerian state forums, local discussions, public requests, member discovery, connect requests, notifications, saved items, profiles, and advertising tools.
NairaClan is not a government service, emergency service, bank, escrow provider, legal adviser, employer, estate agent, transport provider, marketplace guarantor, or background-check service. Members are responsible for checking information, offers, services, and offline arrangements before acting.
Accounts and identity
- You must provide accurate signup information, keep your login details private, and use an email address you control.
- Your username, profile details, state-level location, public posts, replies, requests, saves where shown, and other public activity may identify you on the platform.
- First and last name may be collected for account integrity and support. They are not intended to replace your public username.
- Do not impersonate another person, organisation, public official, admin, moderator, advertiser, or NairaClan staff.
- You are responsible for activity that happens through your account, including activity by anyone who gains access through your device or password.
Location, Clan, and discovery
NairaClan uses state of origin, town of origin where applicable, and current living state to support local relevance and Clan discovery. State-level information stays visible because it is central to trust and community context.
Members may be able to hide town-level details where the product allows it. Changing origin details may be limited so people cannot repeatedly manipulate discovery signals.
- Do not use Clan discovery for harassment, stalking, scraping, political targeting, ethnic hostility, mass messaging, spam, or pressure campaigns.
- Do not misrepresent your location, origin, community ties, or affiliation to gain trust or avoid moderation.
Forums, requests, and public replies
- Keep topics, comments, and requests relevant to the state, category, or request context.
- Requests are public community posts. Responses to requests should remain in the request thread where possible so other members can see useful recommendations.
- Do not use requests to pressure people for money, collect deposits, run scams, exploit sympathy, collect sensitive documents, or move people into unsafe off-platform arrangements.
- You are responsible for checking people, offers, jobs, housing leads, services, prices, links, and offline arrangements before acting on them.
Connect requests
Connect requests are for asking another member for permission to continue a conversation on a mutually preferred platform. They are not a replacement for public request replies and should not be used to hide recommendations that belong in a request thread.
Users may ignore, decline, block, or report connect requests. Do not send threats, scams, harassment, hate speech, spam, repeated unwanted contact, sexual content, payment pressure, verification codes, private documents, or private information about another person.
User content and licence
You keep ownership of content you create, but you give NairaClan a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, store, copy, moderate, distribute, adapt for formatting, promote, and use that content as needed to operate, protect, and improve the platform.
This licence continues where necessary for backups, moderation records, public conversation integrity, legal compliance, safety review, and content that other users have interacted with.
- Do not post content that is illegal, explicit, hateful, fraudulent, threatening, defamatory, privacy-invasive, misleading, infringing, or harmful.
- Do not upload content you do not have permission to use.
Advertising and sponsored content
- Members or businesses may submit ads where the ads product is available. Ads may be reviewed for advertiser identity, destination URL, creative quality, placement, policy risk, and abuse signals.
- Advertiser verification is for ad safety and does not make a member a generally verified person on their public profile.
- NairaClan may reject, pause, remove, limit, or require edits to ads or sponsored content at any time.
- Sponsored content does not mean NairaClan guarantees or endorses the advertiser, product, service, link, price, quality, legality, or outcome.
Reports, moderation, and enforcement
NairaClan may review reports about posts, comments, requests, profiles, connect requests, ads, usernames, behavior, or other platform activity. When needed, admins and moderators may inspect reported content and relevant context to understand what happened.
We may move, label, limit, hide, remove, decline, or lock content. We may warn, restrict, suspend, ban, remove access, limit messaging, limit ad access, or take other action against accounts that break rules or create risk.
Reports should be honest, specific, and used for safety rather than retaliation. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or local authorities.
Prohibited use
- Do not attack people based on ethnicity, tribe, religion, nationality, gender, disability, or other protected or personal identity.
- Do not scam, phish, solicit passwords, request verification codes, impersonate staff, manipulate reports, scrape data, automate spam, or disrupt the platform.
- Do not use NairaClan to coordinate violence, fraud, illegal goods, exploitation, blackmail, doxxing, harassment, or unsafe offline meetings.
- Do not bypass restrictions, create duplicate accounts to evade enforcement, or help another person avoid moderation.
Platform availability and liability
NairaClan may add, remove, rename, restrict, redesign, pause, or discontinue features as the product grows. We may also test or change layouts, eligibility rules, limits, and workflows.
The platform is provided as available and as is. To the fullest extent allowed by law, NairaClan is not responsible for user-generated content, offline meetings, external links, failed transactions, scams, service interruptions, inaccurate information, moderation outcomes, loss of data, or reliance on information posted by users.
Account termination and contact
You may stop using NairaClan at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if an account creates risk, breaks rules, violates law, or harms the platform.
Some public content, moderation records, reports, audit logs, and safety records may remain after account restriction or deletion where needed for community integrity, legal compliance, dispute handling, abuse prevention, or platform security.
